INTRODUCING

Generic Carousel

A blog post carousel for Elementor with a clean, flexible card — point it at any query and slide through the results.

The Rota · kitchen desk

Four kitchens. One rota.

We write down the
that made the week.

The Rota runs four rooms across the city. Nobody writes a press release. Menus change on Tuesdays and the notes go up the same night.

From the pass.

Six write-ups from the last four weeks. Menus change on Tuesdays and what did not work gets written down the same night — the failures stay up as long as the wins do.

Room 02 · The Green Room

Feeding people who work nights.

Staff food, sleep and the long argument about split shifts. Written by the people on them.

02:00 — last plate leaves the pass

02:40 — staff meal, everyone sits

04:15 — deliveries logged for the morning

Room 04 · Suppliers

Where the box came from.

Thirty-one growers, boats and mills. Every one of them is named on the menu, and every one of them has been visited in person at least once.

The archive

Four years of service notes.

Including the year we closed two rooms. Those notes stay up — they are the only honest record of what a bad twelve months does to a kitchen.

Generic Carousel

What does a Generic Carousel post card look like?

Deliberately plain. Each slide of the Generic Carousel widget in Sky Addons for Elementor is a 340px image band with a two-line date chip pinned to its top-left corner, under a content block that overlaps the image by 16px and carries a category pill, a 22px title and a short excerpt. It is the least decorated post card in the Sky Addons set, which is the point.

How many posts can I show per slide?

One to six across, set separately for each breakpoint. The Generic Carousel ships at three slides on desktop, two on tablet and one on mobile, and the Item Gap between slides is responsive too — 20px on desktop and tablet, 10px on a phone. No custom CSS is involved.

Can I turn off autoplay on this Elementor post carousel?

Yes. Autoplay is on out of the box at 5000ms a slide, with looping enabled and a 500ms transition, and each of those three is its own control in the Sky Addons panel. Pause On Hover is off by default, so switch it on if a card carries text people need time to read.

Does the Generic Carousel do a 3D coverflow effect?

Yes. Transition Effect switches from a flat slide to Coverflow, which then exposes Depth, Rotate, Stretch and Modifier sliders plus a slide-shadow toggle. Depth is a perspective distance in pixels rather than a multiplier, so useful values sit in the low hundreds — 240 reads as a strong stack, 100 as a gentle one.

What arrows and dots can I add to the carousel?

Arrows and a pagination indicator, controlled independently. Navigation is on by default and accepts any Elementor icon for previous and next; pagination offers bullets, a fraction counter, a progress bar or none at all, with dynamic bullets and left/centre/right alignment as extras.

Why does my post card only show one category?

That is intentional in this widget. The Generic Carousel stylesheet hides every category link after the first, so a post filed in four categories still shows one pill and the row of slides keeps an even height. Only the Generic pair behaves this way — the Luster, Sapling, Naive, Mate and Ultra post widgets print the full list.

Do I need Elementor Pro for a post carousel?

No. The Generic Carousel ships in the free Sky Addons for Elementor plugin and runs on Elementor free, including the whole Query panel, the Swiper motion settings and every style control. Elementor Pro is not checked for, and nothing is withheld if it is absent.

Can it slide custom post types, not just blog posts?

Yes. The Source control lists every public post type registered on your site — posts, pages and any custom type a plugin or your theme adds — plus Manual Selection for a hand-picked set, Current Query to inherit an archive or search result, and Related for same-author posts of the same type as the one being viewed.

How is the excerpt length on the card calculated?

In words, not characters, and the Generic Carousel defaults to a short 10. The catch worth knowing: the limit only applies to excerpts the widget generates from post content. If a post has a hand-written excerpt in WordPress, that text is used verbatim and the Text Limit is ignored for that card.

Can a slide play a video instead of opening the post?

Yes. Video Source takes the name of a custom field holding each post’s video URL — ACF, SCF, Pods or plain post meta all work, and a dynamic tag can supply it instead. Posts that have a URL there get a play button opening a lightbox at your chosen aspect ratio; posts that do not simply link through to the article.
