QUESTIONS

The bits people always ask about.

What quality are the files?

Everything is 24-bit lossless, transferred from the original tapes. Nothing is upsampled from a lower-resolution source.

Can I listen offline?

Yes. The whole catalogue can be cached on up to three devices, and it stays available for as long as your membership is active.

How often do new records arrive?

One editorial pick every Monday, plus a full session recording at the end of each month.

Do artists get paid properly?

Seventy percent of every membership goes directly to the artists on the record you actually played. The split is published each quarter.

FAQ
Frequently asked

Audio Player

Straight answers about what this one does, where it fits in a real build, and what it costs you to ship.

Still stuck?

Read the documentation for this one, or write to us — a human answers inside a business day.

Can I style the audio player in Elementor instead of the default one?

Yes — the Audio Player widget in Sky Addons for Elementor draws its own transport controls rather than showing the browser bar. Four presets are built in — Modern, NextGen, Card and Vinyl — and the play button, progress fill and track, timecode, volume and card all take their own colours, sizes and radii.

Where can the audio file come from?

Either the media library or an external URL. The remote option accepts MP3, OGG, WAV, WebM and M4A, so a file already sitting on a podcast host or CDN can be pointed at directly without re-uploading it to WordPress — useful when episodes are large enough to matter to your hosting quota.

Does the audio player download the whole track on page load?

No — the audio element is set to preload metadata only, so the browser fetches enough of the file to know its duration and nothing more until someone presses play. That keeps several players on one page cheap, which is the usual shape of an episode or album listing.

Is the waveform in the audio player the real waveform?

No, and it is worth knowing. The wave is 30 decorative bars in a fixed repeating height pattern that animate while the track plays and rest when it is paused; nothing is decoded from your audio. It is marked as decoration for screen readers, and you can switch it off entirely.

What does the Vinyl player style do?

It renders the cover art as a record instead of a square, with an adjustable ring gap around it and a progress arc drawn on the rim as the track advances. Rotate Image on Play is a separate switch that spins the disc during playback, so the preset also works as a plain circular cover.

Can the audio start playing automatically?

There is an Autoplay switch, but treat it as best effort — browsers block unmuted audio from starting on its own, and audio that started muted would be pointless. On most desktop and mobile browsers the track will simply wait for a click. Design the page as though the visitor presses play.

Can I hide the volume slider on phones?

Yes — a dedicated switch hides the volume control on mobile only, which matters because phones have hardware volume keys and the slider mostly eats horizontal space there. Volume can also be hidden at every size, leaving just the play button, progress bar and timecode.

Is the Sky Addons audio player accessible?

Partly, and here is the honest picture. The play button and volume slider carry labels, the volume is a real range input, and the progress bar exposes a progressbar role with a live position value. The progress bar is seeked by click, though, and has no keyboard handler of its own.

Can I show a cover image and track title?

Yes. Cover art, a track title and an artist line are all optional, each with its own colour and typography, and the artwork can sit to the left of the controls or above them. Cover width, height, border, radius and shadow are separate controls, so the block can read as a card or as a bare row.

Does the audio player need Elementor Pro?

No, and not Sky Addons Pro either — the Audio Player is in the free Sky Addons plugin and runs on free Elementor with any theme. Playback is handled by the bundled Plyr engine with its own interface switched off, which is how the widget can present entirely custom controls over a standard audio element.
