INTRODUCING

Nav Menu

A responsive navigation menu for Elementor with dropdowns, a mobile off-canvas panel and full control over every state.

Day boats on the north-east coast

Take a boat out on Saturday. Be back for tea.

Four harbours, twenty-two boats, and a skipper if you want one. No club membership, no joining fee, and the fuel is in the price.

Tomorrow, Whitby
Product site

The whole product, one hover from the logo

A software header has to hold five top-level sections and still leave room to sign in and sign up. Here the Product item opens a panel the width of the page, so the feature list lives in the header instead of on a page nobody reaches.

The page under the header, so you can see how the bar sits against real content instead of an empty band.

Online shop

A shop header does four jobs at once

Announcement, categories, search and basket, stacked in the order a shopper reads them. The category panel carries a photograph as well as links, because on a shop the picture is the navigation.

Fold & Grain

Acetate in six colourways, cut and finished in the workshop.

The category page the bar sits on, so the open panel has somewhere to land.

Conditions

The bar that matters more than the brochure

Sailing sites live and die on whether today’s conditions are one click from every page. This strip carries a badge when a safety notice is open, and it is the only badge on the site.

Magazine

When the type is the navigation

No panels, no badges, no basket. A masthead earns its space with letter-spacing and a hairline, and the section list reads as one line of small capitals across the page.

The Meridian

Reporting from the middle of things

Long read
The quiet economics of the night shift

How a city that never closes pays for the hours nobody wants.

Science
A map of the seabed, drawn by sound

Sonar surveys are filling in the last blank spaces on the chart.

Culture
Everything is a revival now

On the second-hand decade and the shops that made it happen.

Pellegrino
Kitchen and bar

Everything is cut in the morning

Lunch from twelve, dinner from six, and the board changes when the market does. The bar is transparent over the photograph and turns solid the moment you scroll.

Pellegrino

The same bar once the photograph has scrolled away: white card, ink links, the reserve button filled in.

Small screens

The panel is the mobile site

Below the breakpoint the row folds into one button and the off-canvas panel takes over. Panel background, link colours, close icon and the logo above them are all set on the widget, so the panel belongs to the site rather than to the plugin.

Left is the live widget – tap the bar to open its real panel. Right is that panel with its own colours applied.

On scroll

It stays put, and it lets the page through

The bar below is pinned once it reaches the top of the window and let go again at the end of this section. Stuck, it swaps to a part-transparent white and blurs whatever passes underneath, so it never reads as a solid slab over the article.

Day boats, explained

What you are hiring

A boat, a mooring slot and a briefing. Fuel is in the price and the harbour office keeps the keys until you sign the sheet.

Whether you need a skipper

If you have handled a boat this size in the last two seasons, no. If you have not, the office will put someone aboard for the first hour.

Weather and cancellation

Cancel free until nine the night before. If the office cancels for weather you are refunded the same day, no form to fill in.

Getting there

Every harbour has parking within a short walk and a tide table on the wall. Come half an hour early if it is your first time out with us.

Scroll this block

The bar above releases from the page and follows you down, and once it is loose the white goes part transparent so the paragraphs read through it rather than disappearing behind it.

The rest of the page

Everything under the bar is ordinary page content. Nothing here knows the header exists, which is the point – the behaviour is on the bar, not on the layout.

Halyard

Six boats free this Saturday

Booking takes about two minutes and you can cancel free until eight the night before.

Nav Menu

Straight answers about what this one does, where it fits in a real build, and what it costs you to ship.

Read the documentation for this one, or write to us — a human answers inside a business day.

Can the Sky Addons Nav Menu widget build a mega menu?

Yes — the Nav Menu widget in Sky Addons for Elementor turns any item into a mega panel by pointing it at a saved Elementor template, so the panel can hold columns, images, prices or a form. Four panel positions are offered: dropdown under the item, centred, full nav width, or aligned to the header container.

Does the Sky Addons Nav Menu use a WordPress menu?

Both are supported. The Menu Type control switches between a menu you already manage under Appearance → Menus and the widget’s own item list, where you type each entry and mark it level 1, 2 or 3. Pick the WordPress menu for ordinary navigation you want editable outside Elementor.

How does this Elementor nav menu work on mobile?

Below a breakpoint you choose — desktop, tablet or mobile — the horizontal row collapses to a hamburger that opens an off-canvas panel. That panel has its own style section in Sky Addons: width, background or gradient, overlay tint, a header bar with divider and logo size, and close-icon colour for normal and hover.

Does the Nav Menu widget require Elementor Pro?

No. The Nav Menu widget ships with Sky Addons for Elementor and runs on free Elementor, mega panels included — those load saved Elementor templates, which free Elementor also creates. Elementor Pro only matters if the content you place inside a panel happens to use a Pro widget.

Can I open the mobile menu from my own button?

Yes. The Trigger Source control switches from the built-in hamburger to any element on the page, matched by CSS selector, so an icon in the header you already built can open the panel. That removes the usual reason for installing a second off-canvas plugin alongside your menu.

What are the limits of mega menus in this widget?

Mega panels exist only in the widget’s own item list, not when a WordPress menu is pulled in — and the same applies to per-item icons and the small text badges. Choosing mega menus therefore moves the items into Elementor rather than Appearance → Menus, so decide which you want before building the header.

Can I make the header sticky when scrolling?

Yes, using the Sticky extension that ships in the free Sky Addons plugin and adds a Sticky section to any Elementor container. It offers an offset, a Stick Until element, Show on Scroll Up, an entrance animation, a z-index, and separate switches to turn it off on tablet and mobile.

Does it keep the current-page highlight from WordPress?

Yes. With a WordPress menu selected, the Nav Menu widget marks the current item plus its parent and ancestors as active, so a top-level item stays lit while a visitor is on a child page. Normal, hover and active each get their own text colour, background and border colour.

How many menu levels does the Nav Menu widget support?

Three when the items are typed into the widget: main, dropdown and sub-dropdown. A WordPress menu is rendered at its full depth instead, because no depth limit is applied to it — so a deeply nested documentation menu is a good reason to stay with Appearance → Menus.

How do submenus behave on touch and keyboard?

On a phone the off-canvas panel turns submenus into an accordion — tapping the arrow opens the child level, tapping the text still follows the link, and Escape or a tap on the overlay closes the panel. On desktop the dropdowns open on mouse hover, which is worth knowing if keyboard-only access to child links matters.
