Naive List

Straight answers about what this one does, where it fits in a real build, and what it costs you to ship.

What kind of blog layout is the Naive List for?

A quiet index. The Naive List in Sky Addons for Elementor stacks posts as plain rows — picture, category pill in its corner, headline, a grey author and date line, a 25-word excerpt and an outlined Read More — with no gradient, no overlay and no avatar. It is the widget to reach for when the writing is the attraction and the layout should not argue with it.

Do I need Read More if the title already links?

Often not, and it is worth deciding deliberately. With it on, each row carries three links to the same post — the image, the headline and the button — which is fine visually but repetitive for anyone reading with a screen reader or a link list. Show Read More turns it off and leaves the headline as the single route into the article.

Which layout should I use in a narrow sidebar?

Layout 1, at one column. The Default layout splits each row fifty-fifty between image and text with a 34px headline, which needs real width; Layout 1 stacks the image above the text and drops the headline to 22px, and Layout 2 puts the image underneath. All three are set per breakpoint, so a wide split on desktop can become a stacked card on tablet.

Does Offset work correctly with pagination?

Yes. The widget adjusts the found-post count by the offset and recalculates the skip on every paged request, so a list set to skip the first three posts stays three behind on page two and three as well, and the page count reflects the shortened set rather than the full one. That is what makes a “featured above, the rest below” pair of widgets add up.

How many columns can the Naive List hold?

One to four, and it defaults to a single column at every breakpoint because the rows are built to be wide. Row Gap and Column Gap are separate responsive sliders; Column Gap starts at 36px, which is also the space held between the picture and the text inside each row.

Can I change the heading level of the post titles?

Yes, and you should think about it. Title HTML Tag offers h1 to h6 plus div, span and p, defaulting to h3. On a page that already has an h1 and section h2s, h3 keeps the outline sensible; on a widget used for decoration rather than structure, div or span keeps the titles out of the document outline entirely.

Can I centre the text in each row?

Yes. Alignment offers left, centre, right and justified, and it is a responsive control, so a left-aligned desktop row can centre itself once the card stacks on a phone. Centring works best with Layout 1 or 2 — in the fifty-fifty Default row a centred excerpt tends to fight the picture next to it.

Can I show only posts from the last month?

Yes. The Date filter in the Query panel offers today, the last week, the last month, the last three months and the last year as ready-made windows, plus a Custom option where you set your own Before and After dates. It combines with the author, term and offset filters rather than replacing them.

Does this need Elementor Pro or a blog plugin?

No to both. The Naive List ships in the free Sky Addons plugin, works on Elementor free, and does its own querying — there is no companion post-grid plugin to install and no Pro-only dynamic tag involved in getting posts onto the page.

How does the Naive List compare to the Mate List?

They share the row shape and differ in the byline and the close. The Naive List signs each row with a plain author-and-date line and ends it with an outlined Read More button; the Mate List drops the button and instead puts a 48px circular author photo beside the name. Choose Naive for an editorial index, Mate for an author-led or multi-writer blog.
