Trip report · May 2026

Nine days on the alvar, one working vehicle

The second Defender lost a wheel bearing outside Fårösund on day three, which is how a landscape trip turned into a week of portraits in a garage. Nobody asked for a refund.

FAQ
Frequently asked

Pace Slider

Straight answers about what this one does, where it fits in a real build, and what it costs you to ship.

Still stuck?

Read the documentation for this one, or write to us — a human answers inside a business day.

How does the Pace Slider reveal a slide?

By hover, not by clicking through. The Pace Slider widget in Sky Addons for Elementor shows a row of image columns at rest; move the pointer onto one and the columns fade back to expose the full panel behind it, with its own headline and text.

Is the big panel itself a carousel?

No — the panels are stacked in place and only the column strip is a slider. That is why the reveal feels unhurried: nothing travels sideways when you change panel, one simply fades in over the last. Arrows move the strip, not the panel.

How many columns show at each screen size?

Four on desktop and two on tablet and phone, out of the box. Columns is a per-device select offering one to six, and any slides beyond the visible count stay reachable because the strip is a looping carousel you can drag.

Does it work properly on a phone, with no hover?

The reveal is driven by the pointer entering a column, so a touch device depends on the tap raising a hover state — which browsers generally do. The widget also gets shorter on small screens and pins its arrows permanently on, instead of showing them only on hover.

Can the Pace Slider build itself from my posts?

Yes. Source switches between a hand-built repeater and Dynamic Posts, where the panel title is the post title, the column label is its first category, the text is the trimmed excerpt and the button links through to the post.

Where can the panel text sit?

Along the top only — left, centre or right — because the lower half of the frame belongs to the column labels and their buttons. Content Max Width is a percentage, and the position is a per-device setting if the phone needs a different corner.

Can I put a dark tint over the images?

Yes, and there are two: one Image Overlay for the revealed panel, which ships at 35% black, and a separate overlay for the column thumbnails. Setting them independently is how you keep white headline text legible over a bright photograph.

What is the thin line between the columns?

A hairline divider that draws itself upward as you hover a column. Its thickness, colour and hover colour are three separate controls, and turning the Line Style popover off removes it entirely if you would rather the columns ran edge to edge.

How tall is the slider, and can I change it?

640px by default, dropping to 400px below the tablet breakpoint. The Height control accepts px, em, percent or vh, with the pixel range running from 400 to 1000 — useful when the slider has to share a viewport with a header.

Does the Pace Slider need Elementor Pro?

No Elementor Pro licence is required; the widget ships with Sky Addons Pro for Elementor and needs no other slider plugin. Autoplay is off by default, and Pause On Hover only matters once you switch it on — which on a hover-driven slider you usually will.
